Dalgety
Dalgety and Co was for more than a century a major pastoral and agriculture company, or a “Stock and Station Agency” throughout Australia and New Zealand.
At most ports they had woolstores which they shipped bales of wool all over the world.
These beautiful old brick buildings had that classic country feel. Here is one being demolished to make way for a new characterless development. Probably like those in the distance.

In 1973, Japan New Zealand Developments (JND) and Sealord Fisheries established a permanent Box Net in the Whitianga NZ area much to the disgust of local fisherman. It was designed to catch all passing fish with a 800m permanent wing net which guided the fish into the box net where they couldn’t escape. It had a major detrimental effect on the fishing grounds. It lasted until 1980.

In the mid 1990’s Elm Trees around the world were infested with the Dutch Elm Disease spread by a beetle. Thousands of trees had to be destroyed in parks and private properties to stop the spread of the disease.
The man on the court is wondering what is wrong with his beautiful tree. Autumn leaves falling in spring? The tree was destroyed and fumigated by council days later.
